Drag racing is now considered a sport and many enthusiasts are modifying their cars to make them suitable for the race track. However, for some beginners, finding out what they need to replace and equip their car with is not an easy task.


Remember that in drag racing, you will be dealing with speed and power. You need to be able to go from 0 to 80 in just a matter of seconds if you want to win. Here are some car parts that need to be in top shape and performance in drag racing regardless if you have stock or modified engine.

First of all, your tires would work twice as hard when you race as compared to just normal city driving. You need to make sure that your tires are in top shape and that they are from a recognized manufacturer so you would not risk tire punctures.

Secondly, you must make sure that your suspension has been modified in such a way that your front rear will be able to take in the speed. When your car moves from 0 to 80mph in just a matter of seconds, the tendency is your front end will raise, making you lose stability and speed in the process. On top of that, this event could lead to serious accidents as well.

Third, make sure that you have the proper safety equipments in your trunk, such as a fire extinguisher. Since you are dealing with car power, it is not uncommon for engines to overheat and ignite so you need to make sure you can put it off when it happens.

The Fundamentals of Go Cart Racing

Nowadays, people have turned out into a brand new sport known as Racing Go Karts. The excitement that is natural in this race is so different than other racing sports and is really exciting. Kids and young adults are taking to this up and coming sport very candidly. With so much emphasis on auto racing and sports like Nascar and Indycar its no wonder adolescents want to dive in. Seeing some of NASCAR’s greatest drivers winning races at the young age of seventeen only motivates the youngsters and their parents.

Go cart racing sports key to success is its small but powerful engines built on either a 2 or 4 stroke motor. The 4 stroke engine manufactured by Briggs and Stratton is built for the novice racers. At a speed that reaches up to 50 mph, surely you could have all the fun and thrill while racing with other mates. 2 stroke engines are far faster as it could reach speeds up to 100 mph surpassing the 50 mph in comparison to a 4 stroke engine. Today’s, go cart racing is more efficiently faster at 160 mph, which is now attainable.

The go kart’s body weight is an important factor to consider when racing. As the load of the chassis increases, the maximum velocity also decreases. At an average of 250 pounds, the kart could move at a greater speed especially if the engines are optimized for fast kart racing. 50 horse powers are now evenly common in most go kart racing as they maximized the power-to-weight ratio.

Solvents for tires are also innovating the gripping capacity of the kart. Other countries banned the use of these solvents as it has produce side effects to some racers before. In making the go cart accelerate at higher speeds, the body must be lighter. With its magnesium and aluminum alloy, the body of the go kart is tougher and more resilient to breakage.

Racing go carts is something that anyone can get into but it takes knowledge and skills. Kids are starting at a young age and that is a good thing but experience is needed to get into this fast growing sport. Start off with a small manageable kart and get out into a large parking lot or empty neighborhood and start getting your skills together. After you get some experience then go out and hit a go kart racing circuit.
